The unbounded house is formed on two floors. In this project, we tried to reach a different definition of the pattern of duplex houses. In this pattern, on the ground floor, service spaces were defined in the vicinity of the spaces related to children’s lives, including bedrooms, a small living room overlooking the yard and a small kitchen. This decision led to the formation of a widespread area of different spaces on the first floor, where the borders between them are removed and they are seen as one. In this floor, according to the lifestyle of the family, there are three living rooms with different qualities but without clear boundaries with each other but in a close relation.

To blur the border between the floors, we defined a central hole in the middle of the floors to create a meaningful connection between the two floors. This central void with a single tree and a roof that gives a share of the sky to the residents, adds different qualities to their lives. Finally, inside this central void, a sculptural staircase was defined as a communication and connecting element between floors.

The main design problem was formed around four issues:

One: How to use the limited floor area of the old warehouse building to provide the desired uses of the client?

Two: according to the programs defined for the hostel, such as a quiet space for spending time, friendly gatherings, etc., how to place the noisy space of the hostel next to the existing residential space in a way that the tranquility of the residential area is maintained?

Three: According to the number of pomegranate trees in the garden, how to spot the new volume location in a way that in addition to maintaining the trees, the design scenario can be formed according to the presence of trees?

Four: how to preserve the privacy of the old house, existing gardens and the skyline of the area?

Considering that preserving the warehouse building would help preserve the atmosphere of Taft garden-alleys and the garden itself, it was decided in the design process to define a suitable use for the warehouse with minimum intervention in it. Also, in order to complete the defined uses and physical program, there was a need to add a new section, which was formed by the water stream passing through the garden at a distance from the old building. In the location of the new part, instead of cutting down the trees of the garden, it was tried to preserve as many trees as possible and to give them a role in the formation of the new spaces.

By moving the new building away from the wall of the residential section, a small yard was created, which kept the busy atmosphere of the hostel away from the residential section and kept the peace of the residents. The new part, unlike the old building that sits on the ground, was removed from the ground to have minimum intervention in the garden. Finally, two bridges were installed in the gap between the two buildings to connect the new and old parts.

In order to use the roof as a space for joyful watching around among the trees, harmonizing the volume with the neighborhood buildings and shading on the roof, a soft wicker shell with a form similar to the neighboring roofs was formed, the structure of which consists of pomegranate offshoots found in the garden.

Due to the small width of the site, the different ways of light entering the building was challenging without relying on only an end skylight at the end of the site. To solve this problem, a middle sunken courtyard was defined, which then leads to the problem of how to connect it with the outer courtyard. The answer to this problem leads the building to be placed in a duality between inside and outside, which the design team has sought to shape this duality and form the overall literature of the project by redefining various sequences in the section.

Considering the climatic conditions of the project, in addition to providing horizontal awning for windows, vertical ones was also installed around the windows. Around the blocks, an area for rest and aerobic sports was designed by placing trees suitable for the climate and with suitable shading.

Duo to the location of the project which is a desert and dry area, instead of placing all the units in a 6-story building, the units were placed in three separate blocks, each block having an area of approximately 2,600 square meters, which was built on two floors. Each block includes 50 suites, 4 separate kitchens, 4 laundry rooms, 4 TV rooms and a lobby.

Today, in some areas of Yazd city, a clear border between the old and the new texture can be seen. This border has been shifting in parts and is expanding in favor of the new city. In the macro view, the building of Yazd construction engineering organization is more than a normal office, as an urban building, it plays the role of a connecting link and a home for the province’s building engineers.

Yazd construction engineering building has also redefined the border between the city and the building with the slogan “interaction, transparency, life” so that while increasing the efficiency of the office, the clients can demand their rights with full knowledge of the current affairs and communicate with each other in an open space to talk. In this project, Judas tree twig has been used for the semi-transparent shell of the internal walls, in order to provide the existing functions and help to revive this forgotten art. Also, by avoiding the objective use of the past elements of Yazd architecture, which belonged to their own period, we have tried to build a building suitable for our “now” by taking the help of the concepts and associations in the context.

As one of the oldest handicrafts of the people of Yazd, wickerwork has been a side job and a part of their free time hobbies. Due to the presence of palm groves in Bafaq and Ardakan cities, this job has been popular in parallel with the agricultural job in these areas. Even though this activity has become less popular, it is more or less popular, especially among women. wickerwork consists of six stages, which are picking leaves, soaking, separating the leaves from the branches, dyeing, mat weaving and finishing steps. Sometimes, instead of using palm tree, Judas tree is used for mat weaving, which is different in terms of color, material and flexibility. In this project, Judas tree twig is used for the semi-transparent shell of the internal walls. To provide the existing functions and help to revive this forgotten art.

The access route was placed on one side of the mountain slope to minimize interference and destruction in the pristine nature of the area. Along the route, spaces for rest were also considered in order to reduce the length of the route in addition to defining diverse views at different altitude levels. According to the climatic conditions of the region, on the bridge deck at a level higher than human vision, a porous shell was designed for making shade.
